If your aim is to have the in-camera jpeg embedded in the DNG as preview, it ain't gonna happen with Adobe tools - I *think* you can use exiftool to bootstrap it in after conversion, but I've never tried it. Or have I misunderstood your aim.. To be clear: dng conversion doesn't change raw data (other than to recompress it, losslessly), so the only things that make it appear edited are:
* embedded jpeg preview, in any dng-supporting software which has quick-display capability.
* incorporating develop settings saved in xmp, if being rendered by Lightroom, or ACR..
You aren't trying to eliminate all Lr settings from xmp are you, so dngs don't appear edited in Lightroom?
