I just tried. I made a letter-size document with InDesign CS5.5 (7.5.3 on an iMac running OS 10.7.5), and both horizontal and vertical lines, 3pt, dotted and Japanese dotted. All of the lines were visible in a High Quality Print PDF viewed in Acrobat 9.5.5. Both the InDesign document and the PDF printed to a laser printer without issue.

If you zoom in, you will find that they look sharper. That's just a thing about viewing PDFs. Some things will look bad when viewed far out, but that doesn't effect the way it will print.
