After getting the U44M1|210 error and a week of frustrating attempts to call Adobe support or find a fix that worked, I was finally able to update CC apps using the following method:
Trash AAM files in both system and user libraries. Also trash AAM UpdaterInventory.
DO NOT EMPTY TRASH.
Restart, with all external drives disconnected, and quit from CC.
Move AAM UpdaterInventory back into system Libarary/Application Support/Adobe. (Without this file in place, CC will report all apps up to date.)
Restart. Quit CC.
Try to update from within the app. CC will launch and report available updates. In my case CC reported it was installing bug fixes for Ae and Id.
It was successful for me, hope it works for you. Don't understand why Adobe is so bad at this.
