My Wireless HP ENVY 4500 All-In-One Printer Has Stopped Printing PDF Files

I installed the subject wirelessly printer about 1 years ago. It works quite well with my iMac OS X10.9.1 desktop and my Win7 laptop PC. But, it recently stopped printing PDF files for no apparent reason, and I get no error messages.

It won't print PDFs from my browsers nor from Adobe Reader (11.0.07) ... but all other document file types print OK from my browsers and Reader.

The only thing that comes close to printing PDFs is that sometimes, when I try to print a PDF page or file from within Adobe Reader, it prints - on a single sheet - 6 tiny duplicate sections of what appears to be the upper right-hand quadrant only of the original PDF document.

Please note that I un-installed and re-installed the printer and its driver twice without success. Also, no amount of printer re-configuring of layout, size, etc. made a difference. I received some previous work-around advice about converting the PDFs to a Word document, and printing that. But this is just not convenient; and besides, the printer is suppose to print PDFs (PDF is my document of choice for basically all my collaborative work). I should also state that I received no help with this problem from the HP ENVY user group forum; so, I guess that means you may be my last resort. And finally, I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I upgraded my iMac from Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) to Mavericks (OS X 10.9) a few months ago - this upgrade was frought with all sorts of teething problems! - and I am now somewhat suspicious that something in the upgrade might have something to do with my current PDF problem.

Could someone please advise me on any Adobe Reader and/or printer re-configs, re-sets or other actions I should try?

Thanks
